After seeing videos and pics of my grandson playing with pots and pans, gradpa decide to spoil him, again, seeing his face expressions..........priceless, he is a destroyer so far product been holding pretty good.....but the way, he is just a year and 7 months old. We’ve had this set for about a week now, it was a 6th bday present for my son and he absolutely loves it. Perfect size for him.I bought this kit as my daughter's first instrument and I must say, I'm pretty impressed with it! Overall, it has good sound for an introductory children's kit, especially for the price. It's certainly not perfect, but I think it will serve very well as a beginner's kit.One of the things that impressed me the most about this kit is that it actually came with an extra lug bolt! I really appreciate the thoughtfulness there. Anyway, the drums are pretty much just basic drums - 6 lugs on the bass, 4 on the snare and tom. The snare uses a simple adjustable, spring-leaf mechanism for the snares, so the attack is pretty weak, but it gets the idea across. The tom and the bass sound surprisingly good. All drums have a single side port. And so we arrive at the cymbal. It's not any particular kind of cymbal. In fact, it's pretty awful. I think my cast iron pans sound better, and they don't ring nearly so long! When put it on and gave it a whack, it evokes a visceral "AAAAH" (out loud) from me and I rushed to mute that sucker. The dogs were looking at me to see if I needed help. I will say that it seems quite...durable? It's a thicc boy. So yeah, I'm getting a $20 splash as soon as possible and relegating this to maybe a stack...or the trash. The only other thing bad I can say about this kit is that the kick is a bit on the cheap side, though perfectly workable. It has a stamped, sheet steel pedal, a chain link from the pedal to the beater arm, and an actual tension spring. Setting the resting beater position is a bit of a trick and involves a couple of crescent wrenches, but I got it figured - the return spring links to the axle by a small arm that has some play and can be cinched down with the end nuts.I must say, I'm really looking forward to unveiling this kit on Christmas and jamming out with my little girl - I will update once we have a couple sessions! My grandson asked specifically for a “real” drum set for his 4th birthday. He was so excited when he got it. He loves playing with it and so does his sister and friends.Great drum set for small kids. I bought it for our 3 kids just to mess around with. They're 5yrs, 7yrs and 8yrs. I'm not tall, standing at 5'2. I sat on the stool.. it wasn't uncomfortable, except when trying to press the pedal for the bass drum. Being taller than the stool is made for, I'd have to significantly lean to the side or raise my knee at an odd angle. It's definitely made for my 5 year old at the highest setting. I would say even a 3 year old, maybe even a big 2 year old could sit on the stool comfortably at the lowest without their feet being off the ground. My older two sit fine, but I wouldn't say it would be something they would "grow into."I got the set for them to just bang on and see if they enjoyed drums at all. Just giving them exposure to the instruments.I was surprised by the quality. My husband and I both beat on the drums. Not with our full strength, but definitely harder than the kids. The sound was great. We put it upstairs on the opposite side of the house... with our door closed, we could still hear them banging away, but not as obnoxiously lol. I have no idea how to tune the instruments... if you tune them... but assembly was easy. The instructions were easy to follow. The only thing that confused me was the pedal for the bass drum. Once I figured out that the front support legs were too far out, I lowered them and the pedal attached as it was supposed to.If you want a great quality drum set for kids to experience real drumming (unlike the plastic follow the light toys) I'd suggest this set. Oh, and color matched just as pictured. We love this set! The only thing that we don't like is that it's very difficult to tighten the top drums enough to stay. They come loose and will move. The set have actually fallen over a couple of times because the top drums have moved so much and thrown off the balance. We got this set for my grandson who’s 1 1/2yr old and its perfect! He loves it. Cant reach the pedal yet, but he’ll grow into it. The set itself is solid, well built and easy to assemble.I was well pleased with my product!Product is ok quality, apart from the drum sticks, after setting this up as a surprise for my grandson on Christmas, after 5 minutes of him playing with it, one of the large sticks snapped in half on what appears to be a knot in the wood, not happy with this as my three year old grandson was very upset when he thought it was his own fault. The instructions were not much use and I ended up putting it together with different you tube videos, however once built my nephew loved it. Very good quality. This was recommended for an eleven year old - bit small to be honest. However, lovely little set.Pretty good for the money. Decent finish and sound. Need to tighten regularly but thats to be expected as my 5yr old daughter a bit heavy handed. Foot pedal not too strong I fixed couple of times but now do without. I would recommendIdeal gift for my 7 year old. They sound great and the kit was easy to assemble.
